March Wrap Up

img_1362Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well! The month of March reading wise and other wise was pretty great. I read a total of 7 books making it my most read so far this year. As of now, I’m ahead of my reading challenge in Goodreads so that’s always good. For the most part, I genuinely enjoyed the books I read this month and I’m really happy with that. So here are my reads for March:

Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza (Rating:⭐️⭐️/5) – This was definitely my most disappointing read of the month and that makes me really sad because I really hoped to enjoy this one. I don’t usually go for books set in space because I don’t like/enjoy them at all but I loved The Lunar Chronicles and Illuminae so I wanted to like this one.

Hunted by Meagan Spooner (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ) – This book will probably make it as one of my favorites of the year. I absolutely loved this book. It is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and considering all the buzz around The Beauty and Beast movie this month it was just one of those right time reads for me and I enjoyed it so, so much. If you are ever in the mood for a Beauty and the Beast retelling I definitely recommend this one.

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5) – I was scrolling through Audible when I came across Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland narrated by Scarlett Johansson and I was like Yes?! It was really short, not even 3 hours and I enjoyed it. This was my first time reading Alice in Wonderland and I definitely feel that I would have enjoyed it more if I’d read it when I was younger. But it is a story that is well known and beloved by so many so I’m very happy to finally have gotten to it.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ) – Even though I first read this book years ago and loved it I probably won’t rate it what I originally rated it back then. I’d probably give it 3 out of 5 stars now. I just couldn’t get over how annoying I found Clary this time around. Like really, really annoying.

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ) – I’ve always thought that the 2nd installment was way stronger than the first and its still true to me all these years later. This time around I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars.

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ) – Love, love this book! All the feels! For all the characters. This time around I’d give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This is not my first time reading the first 3 books in The Mortal Instruments series (I’ve probably read them a bazillion times *accurate*) but I’ve never finished the series. **CUE IN THE ETERNAL SHAME THAT I FEEL FOR EVEN WRITING THAT SENTENCE** Its very strange but I had this need to reread City of Bones so I did and then ended up rereading the next two within the week. And now I’m all in so I’ll continue reading the series in April. I was never sure why I never finished in the first place. It’s just one of those series that got away from me and I keep putting it off and off and now its 2017.

Asa by Jay Crownover (Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ) – This is the last book in the Marked Men series. Overall, I thought it was okay… It’s weird but I feel like after all that fantasy I read this month, a contemporary just fell short. But I’m happy I finished this series, I really enjoyed it as a whole.

Book Haul

img_1315As far as book releases go, this was probably my most anticipated month of the year (well this and May, almost there guys!) because STRANGE THE DREAMER & A CROWN OF WISHES came out on the 28th! If you know anything about me it is that my love for all things Laini Taylor is on a level that I’m sometimes embarrassed to admit. But the Daughter of Smoke and Bones series is one of my beloved series of ALL TIME. I’ve been waiting for Strange the Dreamer since it was announced and I think I’ve had it preordered for two years, or something ridiculous like that. I’m just so happy to finally have it. I was also very excited to receive A Crown of Wishes because I read The Star Touched Queen earlier this year and it quickly became a favorite. So I was very excited for that as well.

That is all I have for today! I hope you had a great reading month and otherwise. Let me know what was your favorite read of the month.

  1. I kind of did the same thing with TMI series before finally finishing it last year. You definitely need to reach the end, it’s so worth it. And I really need to continue with the Daughter of Smoke and Bones series, I really loved the first book but I didn’t pick up the rest of the series, another thing to add to my to-do list for this year. Anyway, I’m glad you had such a great bookish month. Happy reading!
