Review – Be With Me by J.Lynn

Goodreads Description: Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.

Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.

As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not…

“I love you like I love cupcakes.”

My Thoughts:

Jennifer L Armentrout or J. Lynn is undoubtedly one of my all time favorite authors. Even though I’ve only read her Lux series, she is one of those authors that will always be an auto buy. And although she is best known for the Lux series, I want everyone to get on the Armentrout train cause her books are fantastic. Armentrout is a queen at romance and she knows how to balance the right amount of drama and humor to create stories that leave me thinking about the characters long after I’ve finished their story. Her stories grab you and keep you invested until the very last word. Also, she has a pretty cool last name, just saying.

Be With Me is the 2nd book in the Wait For You series and although this is a companion series and you don’t have to read Wait For You, I highly recommend it because it’s just as good as this one. Cam and Avery (from the 1st book) make some appearances in this book and it was nice to see what they were up too. Their story is freaking fantastic and a great first installment to the series and sets the bar pretty high so go and read it! But we’re not here for Cam and Avery this is Tessa and Jace’s story.

After an accident keeps her away from dancing, while she recovers Tessa finds herself in the same college campus as Jace, the man that she’s been attracted to since they shared and incredible kiss a year ago. Although he really likes her, Jace has his reasons for why they can’t be together but it’s hard to stay away. I loved these two together. Tessa is sweet, but also very tough and she doesn’t take shit from anyone, including Jace and I instantly connected with her. She’s determined and knows what she wants. And Jace, well let’s just say Armentrout has a gift for writing swoon worthy male leads. Seriously, if they ever created a boyfriend making machine make her lead engineer. Both Tessa and Jace had their own obstacles to face and go through and it was fun to see how their relationship formed over time. They were so funny together and the cupcakes… ugh, the cupcake thing was adorable.

Even though I predicted Jace’s secret, there is an event that takes place that took me completely by surprise. I swear I was shocked and so, so angry. If you’ve read this book you know what I’m talking about. Talk about a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This book has some heavy subject matter but I think that Armentrout did a good job in representing them.  Despite it being the classic girl falls for older brother’s best friend trope, this story was full of depth, just the right amount on angst, humor, and most importantly love.

As you can tell, I really enjoyed this book and if you’re ever looking for romance reads with swoon worthy material that will bring a cheese-y smile to your face, give this series a go.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
