Anticipated Releases for June 2016

Hey Guys! It’s almost June and along with a new month comes new opportunities, new challenges and new adventures. And by adventures I mean books (naturally). Although I only have two for this coming month I’m positive they’re books that won’t disappoint and I’m very excited to get my hands on them. Sooooo here they are

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

my lady jane

Release Date: June 7th

Goodreads Book Description:

For fans of The Princess Bride comes the comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey.

Lady Jane Grey, sixteen, is about to be married to a total stranger—and caught up in an insidious plot to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But that’s the least of Jane’s problems. She’s about to become Queen of England. Like that could go wrong.

Okay, so before reading the synopsis I thought this was a retelling of Jane Eyre(You know how much I love Jane Eyre). Which kind of bummed me out when I read and clearly saw that this wasn’t the case. I will say that the premise still intrigues me and I heard it has a very Princess Bride feel to it so I’m very excited to see where the authors take this story. Also 3 authors!! That’s bananas! I can’t say that I’ve read their individual works but I’ll definitely be checking them out.

And I Darken by Kiersten White

and i darkenand i darken 2

Release Date: June

Goodreads Book Description:

No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwyla likes it that way.

Ever since she and her brother were abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman sultan’s courts, Lada has known that ruthlessness is the key to survival. For the lineage that makes her and her brother special also makes them targets.

Lada hones her skills as a warrior as she nurtures plans to wreak revenge on the empire that holds her captive. Then she and Radu meet the sultan’s son, Mehmed, and everything changes. Now Mehmed unwittingly stands between Lada and Radu as they transform from siblings to rivals, and the ties of love and loyalty that bind them together are stretched to breaking point.

The first of an epic new trilogy starring the ultimate anti-princess who does not have a gentle heart. Lada knows how to wield a sword, and she’ll stop at nothing to keep herself and her brother alive.

THIS SOUNDS SO EPIC OMG!! Funny thing is I hadn’t heard of this book till recently. And I’m glad cause its torture enough having to wait just a little over a month for it. Everything about this book speaks to me. I’m expecting a dark, gritty and compelling read. I’m sure this won’t disappoint. And just look at those book covers both are so perfect.

Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh

ivoryRelease Date: June 7th

Goodreads Book Description:

A prehistoric fantasy—with allusions to Pride and Prejudice.

Hunting, gathering, and keeping his family safe—that’s the life seventeen-year-old Kol knows. Then bold, enigmatic Mya arrives from the south with her family, and Kol is captivated. He wants her to like and trust him, but any hopes of impressing her are ruined when he makes a careless—and nearly grave—mistake. However, there’s something more to Mya’s cool disdain…a history wrought with loss that comes to light when another clan arrives. With them is Lo, an enemy from Mya’s past who Mya swears has ulterior motives.

As Kol gets to know Lo, tensions between Mya and Lo escalate until violence erupts. Faced with shattering losses, Kol is forced to question every person he’s trusted. One thing is for sure: this was a war that Mya or Lo—Kol doesn’t know which—had been planning all along.

Set in a prehistoric fantasy world?! Has this ever been done? I will say that the suggestion of it being like Pride and Prejudice makes me a little nervous only because I’m not sure how it will all fit or play out. But I’m very curious to see where the author will take it.

So those are my most anticipated books for June 2016. Let me know if you’re also excited for theses or others. I’d like to know. Till next time guys!
